What is DeFi Account
A DeFi Account is a non-custodial address on the TON blockchain built directly into Wallet. It allows you to manage and trade digital assets on the TON network, earn rewards, manage NFTs and connect to third-party services in the TON ecosystem.
Non-custodial means that only you control the address: the private key and Recovery Phrase are available exclusively to you. Wallet provides the interface for managing assets, but does not store your keys or control your funds.
“Wallet” is the name of the app that includes two services: DeFi Account and Crypto Wallet. Read more about the differences between DeFi Account and Crypto Wallet here.
TON Wallet is now called DeFi Account
Yes, starting May 27, 2026, TON Wallet became DeFi Account — a non-custodial address inside Wallet. Your blockchain address, assets, and access to them remain unchanged.
If you see references to “TON Wallet,” they refer to the service now called DeFi Account.
How to use DeFi Account
With a DeFi Account, you can:
- Send and receive Toncoin, tokens, NFTs, tokenized stocks and funds on the TON network.
- Swap assets within the app.
- Participate in DeFi protocols to earn additional rewards.
- Connect to decentralized applications (DApps) via TON Connect.
- Send cryptocurrency to Telegram contacts.
- Buy and sell cryptocurrency using a bank card.
Which assets are supported by DeFi Account
All TON blockchain assets are supported: Toncoin, jettons, tokenized stocks and funds, as well as NFTs.
How to create a DeFi Account
- Open the DeFi tab in the main menu of Crypto Wallet.
You can create a DeFi Account without a Crypto Wallet account. If Crypto Wallet is unavailable in your region, the DeFi Account main menu will open immediately.
- Tap Create New DeFi Account. A non-custodial TON blockchain address will be generated.
- Choose a recovery method:
- Email backup — recover access using your email address. To use it, link your email address.
- Manual backup — recover access using your Recovery Phrase. To use it, confirm your Recovery Phrase.
Done! Tap Open DeFi Account to start using your non-custodial address.
Note about DeFi Account security:
- Your Recovery Phrase is the main way to recover access to your DeFi Account on any device. Even if you linked an email address, store your Recovery Phrase separately. Learn more
- Keep your Recovery Phrase in a safe place and never share it with anyone, including Wallet Support.
How to add an existing address to DeFi Account
- Open the DeFi tab in the main menu of Crypto Wallet.
You can link an existing address to the DeFi Account without a Crypto Wallet account. If Crypto Wallet is unavailable in your region, the DeFi Account main screen will open immediately.
- Tap Create or import another wallet.
- Tap Add Existing Wallet and enter the Recovery Phrase of the wallet you want to add.
Note about adding addresses: you can only add non-custodial TON wallets for which you have the Recovery Phrase. Custodial wallets (for example, exchange wallets) cannot be added.
How to create a new DeFi Account address
- Remove the current address.
- Tap Create or import another wallet.
- Tap Create New DeFi Account.
- Choose a recovery method:
- Email backup — recover access using your email address. To use it, link your email address.
- Manual backup — recover access using your Recovery Phrase. To use it, confirm your Recovery Phrase.
If email recovery is already enabled on the current address, the linked email address will automatically be used when creating a new DeFi Account. You can only link another email address if this feature has not been enabled on the current address.
If access to the linked email address is lost and cannot be restored, the only way to access the new DeFi Account will be through the Recovery Phrase.
How to switch your current DeFi Account address
- Remove the current address.
- Select the desired address from the list and tap Recover DeFi Account.
- If the address is not listed, tap Create or import another wallet to create a new address or add another one.
How many addresses can be added to DeFi Account
You can link an unlimited number of non-custodial TON addresses to the DeFi Account, but only one can be used at a time. To quickly switch between addresses without entering the Recovery Phrase every time, enable email recovery.
Can I use my DeFi Account on multiple devices
Yes, you can add the DeFi Account to multiple devices.
What versions of DeFi Account are available
All new DeFi Accounts are created using the W5 version, which includes several improvements:
- Fee payments in tokens — you can pay network fees not only in TON, but also in other jettons. There is no need to keep TON on your balance for every transaction.
- Improved compatibility — extended support for DApps and DeFi services.
If your address was created earlier, it may still use the older v4R2 version.
How to check your version: Settings → Version & Network. The active version is marked with a checkmark. You can also switch versions there — tap the address with the desired version.
Note about versions:
- Each version has its own blockchain address, although the Recovery Phrase remains the same.
- When switching versions, you need to manually transfer assets to the new address.
- Connected apps will be disconnected and must be connected again after switching versions.
How to change the language and currency in Wallet
To change the language, go to Settings → Language.
To change the fiat currency used to display your balance equivalent, go to Settings → Default Currency.
Note about fiat currencies: Wallet does not support fiat funds — fiat values are shown for convenience only.
How to add Wallet to my Home Screen
You can add Wallet to your device’s Home Screen to open it with a single tap — without searching through your Telegram chats.
How to do it: Open Wallet Settings → tap “Add to Home Screen.” After confirming, Wallet will appear on your Home Screen.
Why wasn’t Wallet added to the Home Screen
On Android, this may mean Telegram doesn’t have permission to add shortcuts. To enable it:
- Open your Device Settings.
- Go to Apps → Telegram → App info.

- In the permissions section, enable Home screen shortcuts.

- Return to Wallet and tap Add to Home Screen again.
Note about device’s settings: button names may vary depending on your device — look for options like Home screen shortcuts, Create shortcuts, Install shortcuts, or similar.
What to do if DeFi Account is not working
- Make sure Telegram and your device OS are updated to the latest version.
- Refresh the DeFi Account page: tap the three dots in the upper-right corner → Reload Page.
- Fully close Telegram through the app manager and reopen your DeFi Account.
- Change your internet connection. For example, switch between mobile data and Wi-Fi.
If this does not help, clear the WebView cache:
Note about clearing the cache: before clearing the cache, save your Recovery Phrase or make sure email recovery is enabled — otherwise you may lose access to your DeFi Account.
- Android: Settings → Apps → Android System WebView → Clear Cache.
- iOS: Telegram → Settings (tap 10 times) → Clear WebView Cache.
How to remove a DeFi Account
Go to Settings → Remove DeFi Account.
After being removed, the address will disappear from the interface, but your funds will remain on your blockchain address — they will not disappear. You can recover access to the DeFi Account at any time if you have your Recovery Phrase saved or email recovery enabled.
Note about Crypto Wallet: if you have a custodial Crypto Wallet account, it will remain available even if you remove the DeFi Account — you will still be able to use it as usual.
Can I delete my DeFi Account
No, a non-custodial TON blockchain address created within DeFi Account cannot be fully deleted: addresses are created on the TON blockchain and are an integral part of it.
